Yellow BoatsOn may 1st full day in Dubai, I woke up bright and early, took a nice long shower and got dressed. My friend from Abu Dhabi who I had arranged to meet the night before was staying in a hotel apparently not too far away so we had arranged that he would come and meet me in the morning which he did and we went and had breakfast locally. I had already pre-booked a Yellow Boats tour for 10:30am so my friend was kind enough to drop me off to the Marina for my tour.
This was a nice tour but unfortunately all though the weather was hot it was also quite cloudy and windy, this was also a great way to see the iconic buildings, such as the Burj Al Arab and the Atlantis, but would I do it again?, probably not but I am glad that I did it. The Yellow boats trip was a 90min trip starting from Dubai Marina moving onto Palm Jumeriah, onto the Burj Al Arab and views of the Royal Palaces and to the Palm Lagoon.

After the Yellow boats tour I saw my friend again who dropped me off to Dubai Mall, it was massive. I had no plans to shop in Dubai but felt I needed to take a look and plus I had a booking for Burj Khalifa at 16:30pm. I literally just wanted to kill time, browse somewhat but could not wait for my Khlaifa booking as tiredness was starting to creep up on me. I made the most of the free aquarium viewing and had a late lunch before my Burj Khlaifa booking.
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world! It stands at 828 meters and more than 160 stories high.
I had pre-booked a 16:30pm appointment to view Dubai in the daytime as well as sunset, but it was sooo windy that I left before sunset, remember this is 124 floors up! I was so tired and could not get enough oomph from the shopping mall so I really could not wait until it was time to go up the tallest building in the world. There was a bit of a queue once I presented my Burj Khlaifa ticket, I think it took about 20mins before I was actually able to enter the lifts. I don't recall my ears popping on the flight to Dubai but I certainly felt them pop on the way up to the 124th floor!!

After an hour, because it was so windy up there I decided to make my way down to watch the water fountain show, this was a great sight to see. I did glimpse it from up above but the camera batteries died! I returned back to earth and waited about 20mins for the water fountain to start. It was a pretty view but did not last as long as I had expected. After this I made my way to the MRT and went back to the hotel, showered and then relaxed on the balcony for a while with my travel blanket and dressing gown which was provided by the hotel.....Very windy up there!!!
